Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American British musician and sitarist. She was also the youngest and first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is a emerging star of Indian sitar. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam between London New Delhi. As a teenager when her first performance at New Delhi took place. Later she moved in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. While she's still young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording. For a long time she regularly performs with her father. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. In addition to performing in every major venue as well, she has an extensive stage presence. The career of Anoushka goes far beyond music. In 2002 she published a book entitled Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that is a honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. in 2003 she appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam artist. The career of Anoushka Shankar is in the process of developing and she will continue to accomplish many amazing things in the near future. Anoushka was born in England, but spent most of her childhood in between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and went to high school. She started learning to play the guitar at the age nine and performed on the sitar in celebration of the 75th anniversary the birth of her father in Delhi the following year. Anoushka gained a lot of experience by touring around the globe along with her dad. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. To honor her position as an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
